We Missed You

We Missed You

Another weekend is upon us, and you know what that means!  Mother Beverage will be set up at the Dallas Farmers Market this Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17th, doing what we do best.  If you are in the area we would love to have you by for some great conversation and lovely refreshment. The market is under a steel structure, so there is plenty of shade, and a nice breeze to keep you comfortable during these hot days! Also, did we mention we sell ice cold and ridiculously refreshing beverages? They are perfect to help keep you cool in this weather, and wash down all those delicious treats you collect from the other vendors.  Your body, especially your tummy, will thank you.

We hope to see you there!

A Weekend in the Books!

A Weekend in the Books!

What a fun weekend!  As you may know, this past weekend marked the official launch of our ACV beverage, starting with our online launch on Friday, followed by our Farmers Market debut on Saturday.  We had a blast seeing the orders come in online and getting them ready to send off. Saturday came quickly with all we had to do to get ready, but being there at the farmers market made it all worth while.  It was so nice to be outside and talk with people about our beverage. We had the opportunity to meet so many people from various backgrounds, and hear what they had to say about ACV, and why they found it to be so beneficial.  We also met a lot of folks that had heard of ACV, but weren't familiar with health benefits, so it was fun to educate those people about a product we are so passionate about.  ACV has helped us in so many ways, that we just want to spread the wealth.

All in all the farmers market was a success, and we can't wait to be back there this weekend! We sold more than anticipated, and had lots of really great feedback! It's so rewarding to see people genuinely excited about our product; something we have worked so hard on over the past year.  It has re-energize us, helped us to forget all the set backs all the way, and helped to refocus our vision for our brand.  We still have a long road ahead of us, but we are enthused with how things have gone thus far.

Again, we are so thankful for all of your support, and being our #1 fans.  Quite simply we couldn't do it without you!

WE ARE BOTTLING

WE ARE BOTTLING

Mother Beverage is excited to announce that we are finally bottling our drink. After months of hard work and plenty of ups and downs we are finally here! Soon you will be able to purchase online or directly from us within the Dallas area at various Farmers Markets; oh and did we mention that we do home deliveries.  We will keep you posted on when and where we will be, so make sure to stayed tuned.  If you want to see our drink somewhere else let us know and we will try our best to make it happen!

We are so exciting to share this amazing beverage with you. We have poured our heart sweat and tears into it, not literally, but seriously, we hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.  It has turned out better than we could have even imaged!  So cheers; from our family to yours!

With each passing day, we are one day closer to our product launch.  It has been a busy process building our company from the ground up, but it's one that has been both exciting and rewarding.  Each day we are blessed with many opportunities to learn something new.  The past few weeks have been crazy trying to sort out a few issues, mostly concerned with scaling our processes, like carbonation, finding a cost effect purified water source, and label application.  When you make a few bottles here and there, things are easy, but as you can imagine, when bottling upwards of 2,500 units the process becomes quite different. As we grow we will be able to use fillers to help in this process, but until we reach that level, we will be doing it all by hand. :) Carbonation. What to say about that. This "simple" step has caused more than one issue, to say the least, and has left me asking myself over and over; "Now why are we carbonating this?"  We could have been selling our drink for months now had we bottled without it... but the overall product just wasn't as good. The carbonation makes it exciting, more energetic, and overall more refreshing and enjoyable to drink,  It's not in our nature to cut corners, so forward we pressed. To start we purchased a soda stream.  It works great, but on a larger scale not so much.  We went to our local home-brew shop to pick their brain for some advice on the best way to make large amounts of seltzer water.  They recommended we buy a kegging system (keg, C02 tank, and tubing) set it up, and fill the keg with water. This didn't work, so we packed it up and brought it back.  After digging a bit deeper, we realized that most every bar has seltzer water on tap.  That's what we needed so we set out on a mission to get one for ourselves; an industrial grade carbonator that is. We called up our local restaurant supplier, placed and order, and bam, we were good to go.

Our next step was to get a large supply of purified water that didn't cost an arm and a leg.  It's crazy how the simplest of things, such as purified water, can add so most cost to each bottle.  After a few phone calls, and a bit of research we decided to purchase a reverse osmosis water filter, think Dasani water, to solve our problems.

A few days later, the system was at the house, and we were in business. The water tastes great, and will pay for itself after filling 1,000 bottles. Can't beat that!

While we bottle, our labels are off at the printing shop.  They should be back the first or second week of May. We are excited to get our samples back and see how they are looking.  We had to slightly alter the colors a bit due to the printing process, but I'm happy that Danny at Cut Pak brought it to our attention before we started printing.  The final colors look great, and an expensive and time consuming mistake was avoided. Wish us luck in the weeks ahead as we will be busy busy busy getting these bottles to market. We will keep you posted on when they will be available for purchase.  You will be able to do so on our website, and we will ship these handcrafted bottles of goodness right to your door step! Until then... Happy Healthy Living.

There's a Light at the End of The Tunnel

There's a Light at the End of The Tunnel

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.  I've always used this quote as a source of motivation when things don't go my way. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we have been running into some issues trying to find a bottle.  After some deliberation, we reluctantly decided to move forward using a standard soda bottle, but we were moving forward nonetheless. We ordered some samples and put them to the test.  We filled them, capped them, and placed the bottles at different temperatures to see how they would respond.  We were almost certain that we would have some issues, but to our surprise, there weren't any!   Finally, we had found a bottle that worked!

Now that we found a bottle, we knew we had a bit of design work to tackle. We really liked our labels for the square bottles, so we started there. We resized, reorganized, deleted, added, changed fonts; you name it and we tried it.  Nothing was working out so we started from scratch.  I'll spare you and keep those designs to ourselves, but let's just say they weren't doing it for us. So we went back to the old label one more time, trying not to over think it this time around. I made one simple edit and the label came together. This is what we ended up with.

Not bad, right? We whipped up a new label for the neck of the bottle, and Voila! We finalized the spacing and sent them off to the print house for a quote. These bottles were working out better than expected. The very next morning, we called up our supplier and placed a small order.  Note that "small" is a relative word.  About a week later our bottles showed up.

 Home delivery!

Home delivery!

As exciting as the delivery of this "small" order of bottles was, getting them off the truck and into our garage was no small task. The height of the pallet, the lip on our garage floor, the limited space for the truck to maneuver, and the way in which the bottles were put on the truck all posed threats to the end goal.  A brief 45 minutes later, the bottles were off the truck and in our garage. Bada bing bada boom.

Things were really looking up!  We nailed down the labels, received our bottles and caps, and even set up our carbonator. Oh, and just for fun, we decided to whip up our seventh flavor...Raspberry Rose. The organic raspberries were perfectly ripe and ready to infuse with the rose petals.  The week was really shaping up nicely. By the time we get the labels back, this flavor will nearly be ready to bottle.

Each day we get one step closer to launching. We are grateful for all your support and are happy that you are following us on this journey! Stayed tuned, for the journey has just begun.

Cheers

Staying Hydrated with Mother Beverage

Staying Hydrated with Mother Beverage

Everyone has heard that you should drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Sounds easy right? Well, turns out it’s easier said than done. The human body is composed of about 60% water. Some research has been done to calculate that about 95% of Americans are dehydrated. When a person is dehydrated it can cause a slew of problems with your muscles and brain. Plain and simple, your body just doesn’t function quite the same without them. Lucky for you, Mother Beverage is made up of about 95% purified water.  Not only are you drinking a serving of water, but you are also getting your daily serving of ACV. We keep our ingredients simple and organic, so you can feel good about what you are drinking.  Trust us, your body will thank you.  Just in case you’re not convinced, we’ve put together a few key points on exactly why staying hydrated is so important.

If you don’t stay hydrated your body will begin to shut down. One of the first signs of dehydration is a headache. Your brain tissue loses water causing your brain to shrink and pull away from the skull. Dehydration also causes your blood volume to drop, which reduces the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain.  If you have a headache more than likely you need to re-hydrate.

Help with weight loss

It has been proven that staying hydrated and drinking apple cider vinegar can help a person from overeating. Also, when you are dehydrated your cravings for sweets is at an all time high.  When you are dehydrated your body has difficulty with glycogen production, causing your brain to tell you that you need sugar! As we all know, resisting sweets is already hard enough, so do yourself a favor and drink up.

Getting rid of waste

Our body has many functions to get rid of waste. We sift out waste through our kidneys, liver, bladder and bowel system. Staying hydrated aids in the process.

Clear up skin

I love dry dull skin… said no one ever. Staying hydrated helps to flush toxins out of your body, resulting in fewer clogged pores and healthier skin.

Sickness fighter

Inevitably we all get sick.  Some more than others, but it happens to us all.  The next time you are sick remember to drink lots and lots of water, as it leads to a faster recovery.

Bottom line, staying hydrated is essential for healthy living.  Grab a Mother Beverage in place of one of your 8 glasses of water and drink your way to a healthier you!

The Perfect Bottle

The Perfect Bottle

What was a seemingly simple task, has turned out to be our biggest obstacle to date.  Finding the perfect bottle to compliment our lovely beverage has been challenging to say the least.  Being a start-up, our packaging knowledge was pretty limited, so we did what any other start-up would do, and dove in head first.

Within a few minutes we found the "perfect" bottle.  We got to work right away creating a label that highlighted the simple clean lines that the bottle had to offer.  Things were really taking off.  We had our bottles all lined out and the labels were looking great.  We submitted the artwork to a few print shops for some quotes, and we kicked back and waited for the quotes to trickle in. Well not really, there was still some fine tuning to do, and some bottle measurements to take, but all in all we were making great progress. Thanks to the help of Danny Bobbe over at Cut Pak Co. these details were ironed out in a jiffy.

 Flavor Line-up

Flavor Line-up

Our next step was to get some content for our blog, so during one of our routine tastings we decided to carbonate, and bottle our drinks for a product shoot.  We were almost finished with the photoshoot when suddenly one of our bottles exploded.  We were blown away...haha.  This made us a bit concerned.  The last thing we want is for the bottle to explode on you. I can see it now, you're driving on your way to work or the gym on a sunny day, and before you take the first sip of your soon to be favorite beverage it explodes all over you and your car. Talk about a day ruining experience. Logically, we called up the bottle manufacturer and started asking some questions.  Turns out that these beautiful bottles, that we had poured so much love into, weren't all they were cracked up to be.  The type of glass wasn't made to hold carbonated beverages! This is where things started to get interesting.

Our eyes had been opened to the world of packaging; pressurized vs. unpressurized glass, and the vast world of PET.  We thought, "this can't be that hard, there are plenty of carbonated beverages out there on the shelves." Wrong! I mean, there are plenty of them out there, but have you ever seen one in a square bottle? I haven't. After extensive research and reaching out to various beverage brokers, our dreams of launching our product in the bottle we had set our hopes on was crushed.  We had exhausted every resource, including a variety of PET square bottles.  Reluctantly we started looking into cylindrical bottles in hopes we could find something that would fit our needs.

We ordered sample after sample, staying up late sending emails back and forth to China trying to find that perfect bottle.  All of the samples we ordered were duds.  Even the bottles that were advertised to hold carbonated beverages weren't cutting it. The cap would bulge, or the bottom would bulge or both.  All of the bottles that did work were either soda bottles, beer bottles, or a proprietary bottle that another beverage company had produced.  What to do?

We deliberated over several options, weighing the pros and cons of each. After we put everything on paper, the answer was clear.

We have decided to move forward using a clear beer/soda bottle.  This will allow us to bottle our beverage and get it out to you as soon as possible.  We are dying to get some feedback, and we don't like keeping you waiting either. As we grow a custom bottle will be a high priority, but in the meantime a clear longneck bottle will have to do. We want our drink to look as good as it will make you feel!  Wish us luck!

Thanks for checking in...

Why do I drink ACV every single day?

Why do I drink ACV every single day?

It's been four years since I first started experiencing all sorts of random health issues. I was having allergic reactions to makeup, shampoo, fragrances etc. As a women who loves all of these things it was a big blow to my self-esteem. I went to countless doctors and health specialists to try and figure out what was wrong with me. All that they could tell me, is that I needed to reset my body with a detox. I started by eating clean, cutting Gluten from my diet and drinking Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) every day. The results were life changing.  Over the next 4 months I lost almost 30 pounds and my allergic reactions to my cosmetics subsided. There are so many processed products on the shelves these days that are filled with preservatives, GMO's, and all sorts of chemicals that are hard to pronounce, that we really do need to be conscious of what we put into our bodies.  Diet is everything, but we all know that eating clean, aka whole foods rather than processed foods, is easier said than done.  So besides eating clean, what else can we do to counter act all of the the unhealthy ingredients we see in our food?

 A much happier me!

A much happier me!

Drinking ACV everyday is a great way to cleanse your digestive tract and keep it healthy.  For me, drinking ACV everyday was a crucial part of my detox.  The unique acids in ACV bind to toxins and allow our bodies to release them more effectively.  ACV is also rich in living enzymes that help to break food down to its bare components, making it much easier for the body to use.  Furthermore, ACV contains acetic acid that has been shown to help absrob minerals, allowing us to get even more out of the food we eat.

Lavender Lemon

For those of you that have tried drinking ACV, you know that the taste isn't the most pleasant. It's an acquired taste at best.  So after a few months of drinking it on a daily basis, I really started to get sick of the taste.  I said to myself, "there has got to be a better way.  I've got to figure out a way to make this taste good." That was my ah-ha moment. From that moment forward I was determined to figure out a way to make drinking ACV a much more enjoyable experience.

 Orange Cinnamon

Orange Cinnamon

I started out in my kitchen mixing the ACV with fresh squeezed juices, honey, and edible essential oils to mask the vinegar taste. Not only were they high in sugar, but the ACV was still overpowering.  It wasn't going to cut it.  I really wanted to make the drink as healthy as possible; all natural, low in sugar, etc. After a few months of experimenting and putting my PhD in Google to work, I came up with the idea to infuse the vinegar. Not only does this do a great job of removing the bitter vinegar taste, but it also allowed for me to keep it all natural and low in sugar. Now I had created an ACV beverage that was delicious to drink and allowed me to get my daily serving of ACV. After sharing my drinks with friends, family, and ACV enthusiasts, it became clear to me that I needed to share it with the world.  So here I am. I am excited to share my beverage with you!  We promise you'll love it as much as we do!

What Gives with Apple Cider Vinegar?

There are endless studies and blogs that are dedicated to all of the health benefits that Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has to offer.  It's great for an upset stomach, a sore throat, it can help reduce your cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar, etc etc etc.  The fact of the matter is that it doesn't taste that great.  You can use it in salad dressings, and throughout your recipes, but those can be a pain in the butt to put together after a long day.

That is why we have made a lovely tasting apple cider vinegar drink that you can grab on the go, and drink literally anywhere.  We keep the ACV raw, organic, unpasteurized, and unfiltered so that "the mother," natural protein enzymes and gut friendly bacteria, get passed on to you.  "The mother" is the substance that you will find at the bottom of your drink.  Just turn your bottle upside-down a couple of times before you drink it, and each sip will contain the almighty mother that can help with countless ailments, or just help you maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. ACV can also help you lose weight.  Studies have shown that drinking ACV before you eat a meal can increase satiety to help with overindulging.  Comment below if you have any stories on how ACV has helped you, or if you would just like to give some feedback.  We love to stay connected with our family.

Our Very First Tasting

Ok, so maybe it's not our very first taste test of these lovely ACV infusions that we have crafted, but it is the first taste test of many in these batches that we have produced to share with you.  To scale a recipe can be a bit of a challenge, so we are paying very close attention to make sure the flavors turn out just right.  We have found a way to make ACV refreshing and enjoyable to drink, so we won't rest until the infusions are perfect.

The first tasting went great, and the infusions are on their way to perfection.  The lavender lemon, has a great citrus taste with a subtle touch of lavender to really balance things out.  The grapefruit mint, one of our favorites, is so refreshing.  The mint is so vibrant, and the Texas ruby red grapefruits are so juicy that you forget that there is even apple cider vinegar in it.

If you like the taste of sprite, then the lime ginger is right up your alley.  The ginger really packs a palette cleansing punch, while the lime really rounds out the flavor to make it nice a crisp.  The strawberry vanilla, another favorite of ours, is coming along quite nicely, but we feel that it needs a bit more vanilla for the taste to really come across, so we've added some more vanilla stalks. Its a classic combination, and it tastes great if it's done right.

The blueberry sage is turning out beautifully.  It has such a deep rich color that makes drinking it very pleasant.  The blueberry hits your tastebuds first, but the sage creeps in at the finish to really liven the flavor up.  And last, but not least we have the orange cinnamon flavor. We initially thought that this should be a seasonal flavor because of the cinnamon, but it was too good not to share.  The orange and cinnamon really blend nicely together. So well that you won't even think its the holiday season, or that if you do, you won't care because it tastes so great.

We are excited to see how the infusions taste next week, especially the strawberry vanilla, so check back for an update.  Don't forget, that while you're enjoyable a delicious drink, you are also drinking your daily serving of apple cider vinegar.  If you like apple cider vinegar, or have a story to share below please comment or like our post.  We would love to hear from you.

It's citrus season

We are pleased to say that the first batch of flavors have been made and are ready to infuse. The first bottles will be ready in about 4-6 weeks.  This allows plenty of time for all of the produce to infuse with the Apple Cider Vinegar.  Our Organic supplier really came through with the most amazing produce we have ever tasted, so we were excited to pass on the goodness to you .  It's citrus season, so the timing is perfect.

This first round we were able to make 6 out of the 7 flavors.  The Organic rose petals were on backorder so "Raspberry Rose" will be making its debut in the next batch.  Trust us when we say that it will be worth the wait.

To ensure that we show the proper amount of love and attention to each flavor, we work in small batches.  We will be taste testing the flavors on a weekly basis to make sure we bottle them when the flavor is at its peak. Check back for updates on how the flavors are coming along.  Thank you for joining us on this journey to create a beverage that not only tastes great, but also keeps you feeling healthier and more energized.
